Where should we place the silicon planes, and in particular, where should we place the passive elements? The best thing to do is to have the passive elements coincide with dead areas in the Muon Arms.

[RCAS area tocvs3, macros mu_proj1, 2 and 3.kumac ]

North arm station colors correspond to the table below. Stations are shown on equal relative scale:

mfee: North crates and FEE boards ms11: North Station 1 ms12: North Station 2 mz12: North Station 2 ms13: North Station 3

Sitting at z=-10 cm (see drawing here), looking North. The outer black octagon is an 18-cm (outer radius) octagon placed at z=+20 cm. The inner black octagon is an 18-cm octagon placed at z=+38 cm

Note that from -10 cm, none of the endcap disks cover the whole Muon Arm acceptancs.

Major obstructions are at pi/8, 5*pi/8, 9*pi/8 and 13*pi/8.

Sitting at z=+10 cm, looking North. The black octagon is an 18-cm (outer radius) octagon placed at z=+38 cm. The z=20 cm octagon is off the scale.

Nomenclature from here, in particular, the station-1 quadrants are labeled here als (added July 2014 HvH).

Next: run the MC and make J/psi->mu+mu. Require hits in stations 1,2,3 for both muons and then plot hits in the Si planes. This should show this same pattern, washed out by multiple scattering and muon b-field. Also see if there is a preferred delta-phi for these mu pairs.
