Below I have a description of how I used to make buttons (using PAW to make a
ps file), but it is much
easier to write postscript from scratch. Here is
an example, which was used to make the buttons on
this page.
Note that the postscript file contains 7 buttons (in the ps viewer, do
page/next; somehow the page numbers do not show up in the viewer). Now when
you do 'convert buttons_all.ps buttons_all.gif', all buttons are made at the
same time, with extensions .gif.0, .gif.1 etc. One of the nice things about
this method is that the gif files are already clipped to the size of the
object in the ps file, not to ps outside bounding box.
