“LANSCE Futures”
Abstract:
The LANSCE Facility has been providing critical data supporting the NNSA’s national security science mission. Since first beam was delivered in 1972 the mission of the mesa has changed several times.
Now, 45 years after first beam we need to re-examine the mission of LANSCE and plan a path to our future success. Over the past year we have begun a process called LANSCE Futures. In a series of deep dives and a day-long workshop we have developed ideas
to bring new capabilities to LANSCE that will ensure the continued vitality of the mesa into the future. In this talk I will briefly discuss the history of LANSCE, highlight some recent accomplishments, and discuss our planning for the future.
