VIRTUAL Thursday, April 15th 2021 3:45 – 4:45 p.m. WEBEX Speaker: Shea Mosby P-3: Nuclear and Particle Physics and Applications Los Alamos National Laboratory “Overview of low-energy nuclear physics at the Weapons Neutron Research (WNR) Facility (and near neighbors)” Abstract: The combination of WNR, Lujan Center, and Blue Room programs and capabilities at LANSCE create a center of excellence in nuclear science and its applications, enabling precision nuclear reaction measurements, diagnostic development, radiography, and radiation effects testing in support of multiple programs spanning core stockpile, global security, industry, and nuclear astrophysics. An overview of the low-energy nuclear physics and applied nuclear science capabilities and highlights from the 2020 LANSCE run cycle will be presented, including near-term prospects for further development and the growing role of LANSCE's Isotope Production Facility to enable next-generation nuclear reaction studies.
