Scorpius:  Radiography for Enhanced Capabilities for Subcritical Experiments (ECSE)

ECSE is envisioned to be an important new capability to provide experimental data for improved understanding and validation of weapons physics and modeling in relevant geometries and materials.  A key diagnostic system for ECSE is a radiographic system that has capabilities similar to DARHT.  This system, known as Scorpius, is envisioned to combine the penetrating power and resolution of the first Axis of DARHT with the multi-pulse capability and flexibility of the second Axis of DARHT.

The project is in the R&D and pre-conceptual design phase and is a joint effort between LANL, LLNL, Sandia, NSTec, and Industry.  This presentation will cover the high-level project plan and schedule as well as the radiographic system requirements, potential solutions, and the current R&D and design efforts underway.
