Radioactive Ion Beam Studies for
Nuclear Structure, Astrophysics and Stewardship Science
Abstract:
How were the elements synthesized in stars and explosions in the cosmos? How do the properties of atomic nuclei change as the limits of nuclear existence are approached? The Stewardship Science
Academic Alliance Center for Radioactive Ion Beam Studies for Stewardship Science is a consortium of nuclear scientists that is playing leadership roles in answering these important questions. This talk will focus on measurements near the short-lived 132Sn
with closed shells of protons and neutrons and on the r-process path of nucleosynthesis. The instruments developed for this project, the early career scientists playing key roles, and the prospects for future efforts will be highlighted.
