2018 Physics/Theoretical Colloquium Thursday, April 12th, 2018 3:45 – 4:45 p.m. Rosen Auditorium (TA-53, Bldg. 1) Refreshments at 3:15pm Speaker: Dr. Kim Budil Vice President for National Labs, UC Office of the President “A career in national security: science, technology, and leadership” Abstract: Kim will provide a wide-ranging discussion of the path she has taken in her career and the lessons learned at each turn. She has spent her entire career in the national security enterprise, starting as a research at LLNL as a graduate student in high energy density science. She has worked in the nuclear weapons and global security mission spaces, spent time as a detailee to DOE and NNSA, and currently oversees national lab governance for UC. Kim will provide her perspective on the policy context during each of these eras and share the many lessons she has learned on this journey.
