Vaccines: a history, and an update on current LANL work

Abstract:

I will open with a brief perspective on the history and value of infectious disease research, adapted from a talk I gave at the March for Science, Santa Fe. I’ll go on to speak specifically about history of vaccines, and their value in our communities. The last part of my talk will focus on some research highlights of work in my group on computational approaches to HIV and Ebola vaccine designs, our recent progress, and therapeutic strategies that may ultimately enable a cure for AIDS.
