2019 Physics/Theoretical Colloquium Thursday, June 20th , 2019 3:45 – 4:45 p.m. Physics Auditorium (TA-3-0215-182) Refreshments at 3:15pm Speaker: Dr. Cory D. Ahrens Primary Physics Group X-Theoretical Design Division Los Alamos National Laboratory “Pulse Neutron Theory and Experiments: An XTD-PRI Perspective” Abstract: So-called pulsed neutron experiments were some of the first experiments done with neutrons after they were discovered in 1932. In this talk, I will first present an overview of the neutron transport equation, including a discussion of two types of associated eigenvalue problems and the relationship to pulsed neutron experiments. I will then briefly discus recent experimental efforts at LANL and some open questions.
