Fermilab E989 is a new initiative to measurement the muon anomalous magnetic moment (g-2) to 100 ppb. This would provide a definitive confirmation of the BNL E821 result, which was 3.5 sigma above the theory prediction. The muon storage ring was inherited from BNL E821 in 2014, and upgraded with state-of-the-art detectors and electronics. A new muon source was constructed. E989 began taking data in November 2017 and has collected 2x the data sample of BNL E821. Further upgrades are planned for 2018-19.
