Hi Hubert, As you suggested we(IhnJea, TeaJun, and I) tried several combinations of wire connection between the following shieldings and the PHENIX magnet. ``o'' stands for connection to the magnet and ``x'' stands for no connection to the magnet. Run# Kapton PowerCom Enclosure noise 68988 x x x 2.276 69008 x x o 1.786 69018 x o o 2.182 69024 o o o 2.514 69030 o o x 1.953 69038 o x x 2.521 69057 connect(Kapton + PowerCom) 2.739 69062 connect(Kapton + Enclosure) 2.585 69171 x x o 1.692 where, numbers in the ``noise'' column are sigmas of the pedestal for packet2064_ch255. After finding the best combination (Kapton and PowerCom shielding were left unconnected, and only MVD Enclosure was connected to the magnet) from run_69008, we fixed wire connections according to this configuration before we were kicked out from IR. Then we took data with this final configuration (run_69171) to make sure we did it correctly. If anyone interested, please look at /home/phnxmvd/kang/timing_scan_2003/offline/wrk/r69171_p2078_c160.ps for a typical pedestal. Or, one can look the data file /common/buffer2/junkdata/rc-0069171-MVD-*.prdf. Anyway, looks to me encouraging. Now we are hoping that MVD can be included in the main DAQ using only about 10 MCM's. If we can not see signals at that time, the next thing we need to worry about is the timing which we do not know how to do exactly. Probably, John can help us for this if necessary. Regards, Ju PS: Sorry for not sending earlier. Somehow I have been having problem of sending my email today.
