BEAMTEST SETUP

On this photograph the silicon strip detectors (dark squares) can be seen mounted on a pc board. Of the 256 strips/detector, only the central 32 channels are read out. Kapton cables (gold color) are wirebonded at the silicon, and wirebonded at the other end to a small daughter board, which sits on the large mother board. The large grey ribbons on the back of the mother board connect to the Heap Manager board (not visible). A cover box, consisting of 6mm foam with Al foil on both sides, is removed in this picture. It mounts to the bottom plate with the white edge. A heavier, metal box fits over the foam one, and rests on the heavy metal bottom plate. These boxes are electrically isolated shields.
The volume in which the silicon sits can be temperature-controlled (see the plexi cylinders). The temperature of the volume in which the electronics sit can controlled independent of the silicon temperature.
