Details on initializing the test programs

The easiest way to start the MVD control software (pcb_mcm, mcm_read, mvd_main) is to use the "control.txt" script. To do this, enter "control.txt" in the text box in the mvd_main program (above the "Edit Ctrl File" button). Then click on "Exec Ctrl File". The important items in this control file are the following (which you can do yourself if you want). In the PCB_MCM panel:

• click on "Download XILINX"
• click on "Send DATA"
• click on "MCM Reset"
• toggle the "RUN"/"HALT" button to "RUN"
• click on "Init Reset"

In the MCM read panel:

• Toggle the "Read OFF"/"Read ON" button to "READ ON"
• Toggle the "Dsp Off"/"Dsp On" button to "Dsp On" (at least until you see a few events).

To check the readback, click on "Issue LVL1" in the PCB_MCM control panel. You should see the data from one packet. This should happen in 1-2 seconds. If you have problems, there are more details in the MCM test procedure
