How to measure the melcor epoxy using the old torsion balance in 510:

We don't have an electronic scale in 510, so here is how you do it using the balance, which has a scale that only goes up to 1.0 grams:

  1. Level and zero the balance, using the two front legs: rotate in the same direction for level (indicator on the right), and in opposite directions for zero.
  2. With scissors, cut down a cup to match exactly the weight of the one that's there.
  3. on one side, add 2.5 grams, using the paper weights
  4. on the other side, add part A of the epoxy, keeping it on one side of the cup. Use the stainless steel spatula.
  5. Clean the spatula.
  6. add another 2.5 grams of paper weights
  7. add 2.5 g of part B, keep it on the opposite side of the cup
  8. mix and clean up.
