Procedure for preparing strip assemblies to glue to C-cage
Equipment needed
- Dummy plenum pieces
- Shorted ZIF connector for output cable
- Conductive gloves
- ESD wrist strap, properly connected to table
- Template for forming pattern
- Square keys for use as weights
- Vacuum pen
- Fine tip permanent marker
- Bypass caps for kapton cable
- Soldering iron
- Kapton tape
- Put on conductive gloves and ESD wrist band. Remove assembly from
its ESD box.
- Toshi fill in detail. Solder bypass capacitors to pads on kapton cable. Cover caps with a piece of kapton tape for protection.
- Attach a shorted ZIF connector to the MCM output cable. Connect this ZIF to the optical bench by clipping a wire to one of the tabs on the side.
- Lay the assembly on the appropriate template containing the forming pattern. Use a vacuum pen to pick up the Silicon, and gloved hands to handle the MCM.
Align it carefully to the template, and then lay several square keys on the
kapton cable to hold the assembly in place. Using the fine tip marker, make small lines on the kapton cable at the places where bends are needed (as per the template). Write a small "d" or "u" to indicate if the bend is down or up, as per the template.
- Put the MCM into the dummy plenum for protection and reconnect the ZIF connector to ground.
