HV distribution board


The MVD HV distribution boards are passive boards that map 50-pin ribbons coming from the LeCroy supply onto 2 ribbons going up to the MVD. There is one such module for each quadrant of the MVD. The front-panel connector layout can beseen below. We will allocate a small amount of board space to each channel, in case we need to add noise filter components. This is schematically indicated on the right:

In the drawing on the right, the HV for one of the 42 channels enters from the left on the connector, and leaves via the connector on the right. If the HV is clean enough, the capacitors and resistor will not be installed, and the jumper (dotted line) will be installed.

MVD HV Distribution VME Module

Purpose:
This card maps signals from the LeCroy HV power supply to a MVD motherboard. Four Distribution cards are required to support the four MVD motherboards. Jumpers are provided to allow module to support a fully populated or a partially populated MVD while minimizing the number of LeCroy HV modules required. The LeCroy HV module has 12 independent channels mapped to two output connectors each of which has 6 HV channels with a common return. For the fully populated MVD, 42 HV signals are required (7 groups of six => 7 returns) or 3.5 modules. The partially populated MVD requires 34 HV signals or 3 modules.

Silicon Bias Pin Assignments
Maximum of 42 silicon detectors/quadrant => 42 bias + 42 bias returns. Low current requirement (130V Max), so use shielded 25 mil pitch cable and IDC connectors. These connectors are rated for 500Vrms at sea level. Require 2 connectors, 1 ea. 50 contact connector and 1 ea. 40 contact connector. These cables go to the power distribution box.
