Sketch of a show-and-tell object made from left-over
FVTX parts and dummy copies. We have one small and one large spare disk,
and for the other 2 stations we make plexiglass disks. A few real wedges
(with F scores) are mounted on the disks, with extension and bias cables.
The cage is reproduced on the original mandrel, out of paper and wood.
The cooling plate can be 3mm birch ply, or Aluminum, and a real ROC will be
used, with some cables and fibers plugged in. Paper ROCs in other locations.
Plexiglass box over the top.

Using an actual cage as a mold, lay up about 15 layers of newspaper,
using boiled flour paste. The pieces that make up the mounting frame are
visible in the back. These are made of poplar.

To reinforce the front lip of the cage, make the following out of
foam-core board:
Since the cage copy is molded over the outside of the real cage, a half-disk
with a radius of 117 mm fits snugly inside the lip. The two locking pieces
are 116 mm in z, which is the distance between the Station-0 and Station-2
disks, and the half-disk is set back 5 mm from the back of Station 0.
The half-disk probably needs cutouts for the Station-0 hose barbs.

Mike made something much better, out of Rohacell.

to see the reinforced cage being test-fitted. Unfortunately, the
Rohacell was epoxied in place everywhere, and is probably impossible to
remove without destroying the cage copy. I'll have to make another one.
