Grounding the disks



The carbon-fiber face sheets of the half-disks are floating electrically. Friction with the non-conducting coolant can possibly cause large charge buildup on these sheets. In order to prevent this we have to ground the sheets. Only the edges of the sheets are conducting, the surfaces are insulators.

A bare wire, silver-epoxied to the edge of the half-disk carbon face sheets takes careof this.



The location of these wires, on the side of the mounting tabs, is such that the opposite half-disk does not come too close.
Wires are in place, and the silver epoxy is curing (click pictures to enlarge)
