(April, 2002) Light-Cone 2002: Structure of Hadrons and Nuclei on the Light Cone To be held August 5 - 9. 2002 at the LANSCE facility at Los Alamos National Laboratory, Los Alamos, NM. This workshop is one of an annual series organized under the auspices of the International Light-Cone Advisory Committee. It is co-sponsored by New Mexico State University and the Physics and Theoretical divisions at Los Alamos National Laboratory. In view of the extraordinary wealth of very accurate measurements of dynamic properties of hadrons and nuclei presently being gathered in many laboratories in the US, Europe and Japan, this meeting will focus on the presentation and discussion of recent theoretical research in perturbative and nonperturbative QCD in these areas.
This will be the last circular for the meeting. The information in
this circular, and future announcements about the meeting, will be
posted on our event WebPage:
http://p25ext.lanl.gov/lightcone2002/.
This WebPage also contains information about Los Alamos and Northern
New Mexico and various maps, including one for getting to Los Alamos
from Albuquerque.
The workshop will include three days of formal sessions, approximately one of which will be devoted to experiment and the other two to theory relevant to light-cone physics and hadron phenomenology. Individuals contacted and their topics for the formal days are listed below. In order to allow ample time for informal discussions, the number of formal talks will be limited.
If you are interested in presenting a short contribution during one of the informal days, please send a title and brief abstract to one of the organizers by 1 May; we have received a number of abstracts already. Topics for the informal meetings will be decided on the basis of this abstracts. If your contribution not presented at one of the informal sessions, it may be selected for the poster session. Speakers are requested to provide a copy of their talk in an electronic format so that it can be posted on the conference WebPage. Limited funds are available to support local expenses. Additionally, we have a small NSF grant for special fellowship funding for local expenses of graduate students and postdocs. If you are in need of such support, please apply to one of the organizers. The application for students and postdocs fellowships requires a letter of reference. You may expect a modest registration fee to cover the cost of a banquet and incidentals such as refreshments during breaks. There will be no published proceedings. ACCOMODATIONS: We have had a block of 30 hotel rooms set aside at the Hill Top House in Los Alamos for Sunday August 3rd through Saturday August 10th at $71 (+ tax) per night for single occupancy. For those are willing to share a room, a limited number of dual ($81/night), triple ($91/night), and quad ($101/night) occupancy rooms are available but not reserved. To make your motel reservations, you may email Lorie, the motel representative, at Loriew@vla.com or call here at 1-800-462-0936, ext. 1109. Please reference the "Light-Cone Workshop". Additionally, we have reserved rooms at the Los Alamos Inn, 1-800-279-9279 or reservations@santefehotels.com. Information about other options for accommodations is available through links on our Light-Cone 2002 WebPage. REGISTRATION: Deadline: June 1, 2002. Please provide the following information below to register for the workshop if you are interested in attending this meeting. As the processing DOE approvals for LANL varies according to the country, it is especially important that we have the registration material from participants who are not U.S. citizens by 1 June so that we have ample time to acquire the required approvals. You may send the registration information to the conference secretary, Debbie C. Spore (dcspore@lanl.gov). Apologies in advance for the long list of questions. The information is required by Los Alamos, and we cannot secure the approvals without all of it.
