An EIC Directed Research project, (20200022DR), running from October 2019 to September 2022, has been funded by the LANL LDRD office with PI Ivan Vitev and Co-PI Xuan Li and 15+ staff/engineers/postdocs. In this we will explore the hadronization processes and their medium modifications using heavy flavor hadron and jet probes. We are carrying out detector R&D for several advanced silicon sensor candidates and will complete the conceptual design for a forward silicon tracking detector to meet the EIC heavy flavor and jet physics requirements.
