The Generation and Evolution of Astrophysical Magnetic Fields

It is widely accepted that magnetic fields were not created in the Big Bang, 
but arose at a later time. I will review some relevant observations, discuss 
magnetogenesis, magnetic field evolution, and the consequences for 
astrophysical systems.
