MJL muTr flat-file logbook ========================== 12/9/00 Got sta-2/oct-1 chassis-2 master cable-1 to work by plugging in proper (type A) cable upside down into chamber pigtail/ribbon connector. Fixed sta-2/oct-5 chassi-1 master cable-3 by replacing this cable. 12/12/00 Long calibration cables: - swapped white/black pair with green/black pair on long calibration cable for stat-1/oct-3 at both ends. the green/black pair has a dead short. - pulled and cut off pin on black wire of red/black pair on sta-1/oct-7 long calibration cable round connector; then soldered on short piece of wire and put on new pin. - now all sta-1 long cables show about 54 ohms on each live pair from the patch panel end of the cable sta-2/oct-5 chassis-1 slave channels 48-63 are still dead: - swapped cables several time - moved one or the other end of cable to another block of channels or another chamber connecter - problem always stays with chamber connector - measured resistance into chamber connector (a transition card) left row of pins (towards sta-3) shows 1 Mohm except for bottem pin which is grounded. All right row is grounded. - also next connector down on same plane has mostly dead channels, but third one down on same plane (which is on a different internal chamber card) is ok. 12/12/00 sta-1/oct-4 gaps 2 & 3 - found patch cable between calibration driver modules and patch panel had black & colored leads reversed for gaps 2 & 3. This would apply negative pulses to the anode wires. DAQ with calibration verifies that this improves things dramatically. However presently last half of chassis-1 slave and all of chassis-4 are still dead. The latter is because the analog cables on chassis-4 are not connected and the former because one row of analog cables is not plugged in. Note also that the 3rd and 4th chassis in quadrant 3 seem to be swapped in the readout somehow. 12/13/00 sta-1 - read out station-1 after Andrew fixed a chassis in Q3 (new CROC) and Nikki cabled up this and a neighboring chassis. It looks much better now but still appears to have some inconsitent mapping problems.
