Fiber Bundle Light Collection - Unexplored ideasV
back

Back to this idea: a microlens array converts the diverging light from each fiber into a forward-going beam, after which a single large lens (not shown here) can focus all parallel beams onto a small detector area.
If the pitch of the lens array is different than the pitch of the fiber array, the beams from each fiber/lenslet set will no longer be parallel to the main optical axis.

If we choose the pitch of the lens array to be slightly smaller than that of the fiber array, we can make the beams converge.
