Abstract:

In January '96, Nance Ericson from Oak Ridge brought to Los Alamos a prototype of the MVD front-end electronics boards. The boards contained the digital parts of the Heap Manager and FEE. The boards had been tested at oak ridge, using a PC. In order to prepare for the MVD beam test later in the spring, we needed to learn how to communicate to the boards via camac, and receive the data in the CODA data acquisition system. This document is mostly meant for internal record keeping. However, since there is a large amount of overlap between the Heap Manager/FEE of the MVD and that of other Phenix subsystem, the protocols and software may be of interest to the wider Phenix community.
